The GKSRD is a dataset of human ratings developed to provide a ground truth for assessing semantic relatedness measures of keyword sets of geographic metadata. Emails with the questionnaires as attachments were sent to 380 geography experts. These experts were academic staff mostly from the United States, England, Australia, and Canada. The ordering of the 30 pairs of keyword sets was different for each subject. The experts were informed that the keyword sets were used to describe the geographic data. They were asked to judge the overall semantic relatedness of them and rate them on a 5-point Likert scale from 0 to 4, where 0 indicated no semantic relevance at all and 4 indicated that the two keyword sets had identical meaning. Forty-six responses were received.
