Increases in water balance-derived catchment evapotranspiration in Germany during 1970s–2000s turning into decreases over the last two decades, despite uncertainties

Trends in regional-scale water balance-derived catchment evapotranspiration over multiple study subperiods between 1964 and 2019. For each subperiod, start and end years, absolute trend in mm year&lt;sup&gt;-2 &lt;/sup&gt;(abs_trend), percentage trend in % decade&lt;sup&gt;-1 &lt;/sup&gt;(perc_trend), and <em>p&lt;/em&gt;-value (pval_) for each study region (Pre-Alpine, Western, and Eastern Germany) are reported.</em>
