Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae ST11 Index from Single Strain Enduring Rapid Parallel Evolution during Persistent Infection. Klebsiella pneumoniae

We present 69-year-old male enduring K.pneumoniae infection for two months. Nine isolates were collected for antibiotic susceptibility, growth, and virulence testing, and subjected to genome sequencing for diversity, variation and genesis dynamics inference. Genomic analysis revealed that this case was infected by ST101 and carbapenem-resistant ST11, both persisting for two months. Notably, ST11 underwent rapid population divergence and parallel evolution, diverged in two subpopulations, Pop I and II.
