资源简介:
Psychotropic drugs, a key class of medications in psychiatry, face significant challenges in their use, especially in terms of prescription and the possibility of self-medication. This phenomenon not only affects the effectiveness of treatment but also raises concerns about patient safety due to the side effects of their misuse. It is observed that these medications are disproportionately prescribed to women and the elderly, suggesting biases in the healthcare system. Moreover, the particularly common self-medication in these demographic groups poses an added risk to public health. Additionally, it is important to highlight that prolonged and unsupervised use of psychotropic drugs can lead to dependence and addiction, adding further complexity to this issue. Therefore, research on prevention strategies becomes essential to mitigate these risks and ensure the safe and effective use of these medications. In the field of Chemistry and Pharmacy, this review has the potential to significantly improve medication dispensing safety and promote their rational use. However, it is not without challenges, such as the presence of gender and age biases in the collected data, as well as the inherent difficulties in searching for and analyzing relevant information. Hence, a qualitative systematic review would be conducted with the aim of understanding the impact of predisposing factors associated with the use and self-medication of psychotropic drugs in the adult female population. This review would consider variables such as gender, age, social expectations, experience of violence, medical prescription, addiction control, and psychiatric support, in order to develop effective strategies to counteract this issue. It is expected to identify that gender roles and social expectations contribute to adult women being more affected by stress and anxiety, which in turn increases self-medication with psychotropic drugs.
