资源简介:
This study examined the psychometric properties of the Future Time Orientation Scale (FTOS) and the Life Project Scale (LPS), exploring their associations with epistemological beliefs (EB) in a Mexican sample of 344 adults. Future Time Orientation (FTO) reflects how the future shapes the present, while Life Project (LP) involves constructing meaningful direction. EB concerns individuals' conceptions of knowledge. Confirmatory factor analyses supported two-factor structures for both FTOS (Impact and Distance) and LPS (Identification and Involvement), demonstrating strong reliability and partial measurement invariance. Cluster analysis identified three EB profiles: evaluativist (47.4%), multiplicist (40.7%), and absolutist (11.9%). Multivariate analysis revealed that LP dimensions differed significantly across clusters, with absolutists and multiplicists showing higher Identification and Involvement than evaluativists. In contrast, FTO dimensions did not vary significantly among groups. These findings suggest that while FTO remains stable across different epistemological profiles, the clarity and enactment of Life Projects are shaped by individuals' beliefs about knowledge. This study contributes to integrating motivational and cognitive frameworks and provides validated tools for future research in Mexican populations.
