Zooplankton in offshore Lake Ontario during intensive sampling year 2013

Intensive sampling of the offshore waters of Lake Ontario occurs on a five-year cycle as part of the Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative (CSMI). This datapackage includes zooplankton data collected in Lake Ontario by various research groups (USGS, OMNRF, DFO Canada, EPA, NYSDEC, USFWS, Cornell) during the CSMI year of 2013 . Research cruises were conducted from April through early November This datapackage includes zooplankton average size (mm), density (#/m3) and biomass (ug dry weight/m3) by species for each site and depth interval sampled. It also includes calculations based on area afor the combined depth stratified tows to get a whole water column estimate and for the tows covering the top 100 m or the whole water column. Other trophic indicators measured during CSMI years include nutrients (total phosphorus, dissolved silica), water clarity (secchi depth), dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll a, and an assessment of phytoplankton, the microbial food web, mysids, and the benthic community. Some rotifer data are also available. These additional data sets are not included in this datapackage. Mysids are available in the datapackage Holda et al. (2017).
