the aim of our study were to comparatively analyze the transcriptomes of two contrasting Lycium genetypes, i.e., RF and BF, throughout growth during ripening to identify genes associated with the biosynthesis of bioactive compounds. This study offer important genetic resource for understanding molecular mechanisms on key bioactive metabolism, and the result may be meaningful for further gene expression and functional genomic studies, and molecular breeding of Lycium varieties with enhanced health benefits.
