This work aims at searching for potent actinobacteria from natural resources and supplying them as the sources of novel bioactive metabolites. Streptomyces sp. TM32 was isolated from rhizosphere soil of turmeric and is capable of producing various antibiotics. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain TM32 exhibited highly related to Streptomyces sioyaensis, supported by 100% sequence similarity of the gene. However, a set of phenotypic and genotypic data revealed apparent differences between strain TM32 and its closest phylogenetic species. The draft genome of this emerging Streptomyces was sequenced, which provided genomic data for further investigations.
