Urban Growth in Denmark, 1960-1981

In connection with current basic research on the recent development and expected change of the Danish urban system, a data bank has been established containing all published data on Danish towns with more than 200 inhabitants in the period 1960-1981. #This data bank has been supplemented with data on places of work and may be used for basic research and for the testing of hypotheses. #The project has four main themes: # I. How do Danish towns differ from one another? # II. Is it possible to account for Danish urban growth? #III. Danish urban growth in an international perspective. # IV. Danish urban growth in a theoretical perspective. # #Material from the census and residence counts in 1970 and 1981 has been transferred from Danmarks Statistik. This material concerns: # #1. For municipalities, parishes and towns in 1970 and in 1981: # a) The total population. # b) People between 20 and 64. # c) People between 20 and 64 engaged in active # employment. # #2. Inter-municipality commuting 1970 and 1981: # a) People between 20 and 64 engaged in active employment with # information on municipality of residence and municipality # of place of work. # b) As for 1970 also information on the number of people between # 20 and 64 engaged in active employment without information # on municipality of place of work but distributed on causes # (of lacking information on place of work) and municipality # of residence. # #3. As for 1970 and 1981 the day population distributed on a common # 2 digit occupational code for: # a) Municipalities. # b) Parishes. # c) Towns
