Three 20 m x 1 m seedling transects were oriented 112° (transects 1 to 3) and three were oriented 292° (transects 4 to 6) within the 1 ha plot running in an approximate west-to-east or east-to-west direction. A measuring tape was laid between designated 20 m x 20 m subplot markers indicating the length (20 m) of each individual transect. The width of each seedling transect (1 m) was measured to the south of the 20 m tape for transects 1 to 3, and to the north of the 20 m tape for transects 4 to 6.
