Ephemeral aggregate layers in the water column leave lasting footprints in the carbon cycle - data associated with a manuscript submitted to L&O Letters

We used laboratory experiments to investigate how aggregate thin layers affect the distribution of bacteria and their activity. <br>This fileset includes the following data and video files:<br>1) An excel spreadsheet that provides the data for enzyme activities (measured using L-Leucine-4-Methylcoumarin-7-amide hydrochloride as substrate proxy) and bacterial cell counts (counted using flow cytometry).<br><br>2) A .mat file that provides particle intensity data along with associated depths and timepoints from images recorded during the experiments. A .txt file describing the data is also provided.<br>3) Videos of each of the two stratified aggregate sinking experiments (video for Exp. 1 is shown at ~5x speed and video for Exp. 2 is shown at ~4x speed).<br>4) A metadata form that provides tables explaining the data included here as part of the manuscript submitted to L&amp;O Letters.
