Seagrass and algae cover in Strande Bight, Baltic Sea

This dataset supplements the submission "Mapping Subtidal Seagrass in the Turbid Baltic Sea: Rethinking Satellite Sensor Selection Using a Sensor-Agnostic Pipeline" in the journal Science of Remote Sensing (DOI: 10.1016/j.srs.2025.100243). It provides the in-situ data used for training, validation, and testing of machine learning models. Detailed descriptions of the data collection methods can be found in the original publication. seagrass_cover.geojsonContains in-situ observations of seagrass percent cover in Strande Bight, Baltic Sea, Germany. Data were collected between 2018 and 2022. merged_seagrass_algae_cover.geojsonIncludes in-situ observations of both algae and seagrass percent cover in Strande Bight, Germany, collected between 2018 and 2022. manually_annotatedContains manually created polygons with binary vegetation labels indicating absence (0) or presence (1). These annotations are based on pan-sharpened Pléiades very high-resolution imagery (0.5 m spatial resolution). Access to the data will be made publicly available once the submission is accepted.
