More than 70% of breast tumors are estrogen receptor α (ERα) positive and depend on estrogen for their growth. However, due to the stochastic nature of gene transcription and the resulting heterogeneous cellular responses, it is necessary to investigate the estrogen-stimulated gene expression profiles at single-cell level. In this study, we facilitated time-course β-estradiol treatment followed by single-cell RNA-seq analysis. A total of 177 single-cell transcriptomes were sequenced and robust gene expression diversity between individual cells were observed.
