VPRS 2085 Assets Register

The assets register provided a description of each asset, its value, and location within the Victoria Institute of Colleges (VA 571). The Institutes Vice-President introduced it in 1968 to better control and account for the Institutes assets. The series is in two parts:Assets listingsThese refer to assets of the Institutes Vice-Presidents Office, the administrative unit responsible for most of the Institutes activities. Compiled from 1968 to 1976, each list updates the one compiled before it, and records, for each asset:The assets serial number;Type of article;Date received;Supplier;Cost;Location within the Institute; andDisposal details (sometimes).Sometimes the listings in this series allowed for the signature of the assets custodian, but they were rarely, if ever, signed.Provision was also made for linking each asset to its Assets Distribution/Location Sheet, which attributed responsibility for the asset to a particular employee or administrative area within the Institute (the sheets are not in Public Record Office custody).Equipment RegisterThis relates to assets acquired by the Institutes Educational Technology Unit (part of the Vice-Presidents Office) from 1973 to 1976. It records a brief description of each asset, its cost, supplier, and date received. Provision was made for the custodian of each item to sign and date the entry. It was compiled around 1976.
