Marine Actinomycete Genome sequencing and assembly. Brevibacterium sp. XM4083, Micrococcus sp. R8502A1, Micromonospora sp. XM-20-01

These three strains of novel marine actinomycetes, associated with the Caribbean giant barrel sponge, Xestospongia muta, exhibited consistent growth-inhibition against several Mycobacterium species, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Ra. Genomic analysis was performed to investigate biosynthetic gene clusters implicated in the anti-tubercular activity.
