Topics include; respondents' attitude to problems facing Australia today (poverty, crimes of violence, education, inflation, family break-up, unemployment, industrial disputes, road toll, pollution and the environment, energy and oil, defence apathy); whether the respondent favours abolition of control of interest rates; whether housing interest rates are too high; whether the respondent approves of the job performance of Mr Fraser and Mr Hayden as Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition respectively; and, for women, whether she is responsible for all or most of the household shopping, whether she is employed and approximately how much money is spent weekly on food and groceries. Background variables include: age; sex; marital status; level of education; country of birth; household composition (number of persons in household, number of children under age 5, number of children between 5-12 years old, number of children between 13-17 years old, age of the youngest person, and number of employed persons); whether respondent has moved in last two years; tenure of dwelling; occupation of self and head of household; voting enrolment; vote intention; income; and telephone owner
