KIT04, a Vibrio parahaemolytius-specific phage, was isolated from mussel's tissue collected from the Southwest of Vietnam. V. parahaemolyticus ATCC 17802, a bacterial pathogen in marine aquaculture system, is also known as an important pathogen that has been a major cause of food-borne illness worldwide, was used as the host bacterial strain for phage isolation and amplification by enrichment method. Whole genome sequence of phage KIT04 was performed with a high throughput Illumina HiSeq 2500 system sequencing using Velvet v1.2.10. Open reading frames (ORFs) was predicted with GenemarkS for phage. Functional analyses and their annotations were carried out by using the BLASTP and Uniprot (https://www.uniprot.org). KIT04 may be a good candidate for the development of biocontrol agents against V. parahaemolyticus infection.
