Insect diversity found in Grassland and Woodlot using Pan trap experiment

This experiment was conducted in Grassland located by Strong Pong and Saywell Woodlot, York University on September 30th in a slightly overcast environment. Three different colours of pantraps (yellow, blue and white) were used to obtain the most reliable data for this experiment. Pantraps were setup in 3 different locations along a transect line in both habitats. Each setup consisted of 3 different colors of pantraps and were located 5 meters apart. The pantraps were three quarters filled with soapy water and were left untouched for approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. The dichotomous key provided in the lab manual was used to identify the different species, and the total number of species collected in each bowl was also observed and recorded. The key objective of this experiment was to predict the abundance of different insect species in 2 habitats.
