Digital Archive from a Geophysical Survey and Trial Trench Evaluation of the Roadford Pumped Storage Pipeline Route, Devon, 2023

This collection comprises magnetic gradiometer survey data, magnetometer data plots, photographs, site records, GIS data and section drawings from a geophysical survey and trial trench Evaluation of the Roadford Pumped Storage pipeline route, Devon. Work was carried out by MOLA Northampton between March and April 2023.

The geophysical survey identified a few features of archaeological interest including, most notably, a possible small ring ditch or roundhouse near the western end of the route. The geophysical results were verified by the archaeological trial trenching. Of particular interest was a tentatively identified Prehistoric charcoal production platform which corresponded with a high-intensity burnt feature on the geophysical survey, from which flints and charcoal was recovered.
