Studies of microbial diversity on soil and earthworm gut

Soil and adult earthworms were obtained from Xianyu Town, China. Xianyu Town, located in the southwestern of Anhui Province, is known as one of selenium-abundance areas. But previous research by our group found that Cd concentration in soil of tea field and rice paddies is far more than risk screening value . Therefore, it is typical area rich in selenium and high in cadmium and provides an excellent condition for studying biogeochemical circulation of selenium and cadmium. In order to explore composition of microbial communities, fifteen locations were collected from four village group in Xianyu Town. After removing the litter layer and visible stones, some of soil samples were frozen for high-throughput sequencing. Earthworms were sampled in the vegetable field, anatomizing them to obtain vivo gut contents for microbiological analysis by high-throughput sequencing.
