Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b Genome sequencing

Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b, a member of the Methylocystaceae family within the order Rhizobiales, is an obligately aerobic methanotroph strain that has been the subject of extensive investigation related to the genetics and enzymology of methane oxidation, and the related ability to degrade hydrocarbons. With the ability to utilize methane as a sole carbon and energy source this organisms has potential roles in bioremediation, biofuels, and global climate change research. The goal of this project was to generate a closed genome for strain OB3b using PacBio SMRT long read technology.
