Evaluation of psychometric properties of the Caring Behaviors Inventory-16 Ethiopian Amharic version

Caring is an essential component of the nursing profession. Caring manifests through nurse caring behaviors. Perceptions of caring behaviors have shown to be associated with quality of care and patient outcomes such as satisfaction. The Caring Behaviors Inventory-16 (CBI-16) is a comprehensive instrument that measures caring behaviors as experienced by nurses and patients. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt and evaluate the psychometric properties of the CBI-16 among adult patients who speak the Amharic language in Ethiopia. The data are presented in Stata DTA File and Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Worksheet formats. The data was used in a published research article entitled “Psychometric Properties of the Caring Behaviors Inventory-16 in Ethiopia”. The CBI-16 Ethiopian Amharic version displayed a four-factor solution and was shown to be a valid and reliable instrument for the assessment of the perceptions of caring behaviors in Ethiopia.
