In this study, we combined a field experiment with a meta-analysis to examine how the effects of plant mixture on soil Collembola abundance and diversity change with water availability. We assessed soil Collembola abundance, richness, evenness, and composition in stands dominated by <i>Populus tremuloides</i>, <i>Pinus banksiana</i>, and their relatively even mixtures under three precipitation treatments: reduced (-25% throughfall), ambient, and added (+25% throughfall) in a boreal forest of Central Canada.
