The gut microbial metabolite 4-guanidinobutyric acid promotes intestinal urate excretion via the HNF4a-ABCG2 axis

We conducted a case-control study involving 200 participants, including 94 HUA patients and 106 healthy controls, to investigate the correlation between gut microbiota and HUA. We isolated a uric acid-degrading strain, Limosilactobacillus fermentum M5e, from human gut samples. Using animal models, cell experiments, and multi-omics technologies, we explored the effects of M5e and its metabolites on uric acid metabolism.
