Indonesian Susenas 2000, Household Characteristics (Core)

Indonesia Social and Economic Survey (Susenas 2000) is a nationwide survey conducted to collect information on social and economics indices. It serves as a main source of monitoring the social and economic progress in the society. Susenas was conducted on an annual basis since 1963. In 1992, in addition to a basic social and economic questionnaire (core), another questionnaire was introduced which gathers more detailed information on special interest topics (module). The core covers basic information of household and individual characteristics on health, death, education/literacy, employment, fertility and family planning, housing, and household expenditure. This questionnaire is asked annually with only slight modification in subsequent years. Susenas 2000 core covers 189,339 households and is designed to be representative up to district/municipality levels. The module is intended to gather more detailed information on specific topics, especially on data that changed less frequently than yearly. There are three modules of Susenas and each module is added in a three-year cycle. In 2000, the module's topic was social, culture and education. The data set covers 59,203 households. Both core (Susenas Core) and module questionnaires (Susenas Module) contain data on household and individual characteristics. In this data archive, Susenas 2000 core was divided into three datasets containing household (ssn00k_h.sav) characteristics; individual characteristics (ssn00k_i.sav), and mortality (ssn00_d.sav), respectively. Susenas 2000 module (social, culture and education), data were split into two data files, which contain information on household welfare (ssn00m_h) and individual characteristics on social, culture and education (ssn00m_i.sav). This particular dataset file (Ssn00k_h.sav) contains household characteristics which are gathered from core questionnaires (VSEN2000.K and includes following information: Identification of Place; Household Characteristics; Enumerator Characteristics; Housing Characteristics; Household Expenditure; and Agricultural Sector Characteristics. Total number of cases in this file is 189,339 with 133 variables.
