This study conducted metagenomic analysis on 23 samples collected from cold seeps in the South China Sea, yielding 768 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) with an estimated completeness greater than 60%. Of these MAGs, 61 were estimated to exhibit a completeness >90%, while another 105 had a completeness >80%. Phylogenomic analysis identified 597 bacterial MAGs and 171 archaeal MAGs, nearly all of which are distantly related to known cultivated strains. At the phylum level, the most abundant bacterial taxa within the 768 MAGs include Proteobacteria, Desulfobacterota, Bacteroidota, Patescibacteria, and Chlorofexota, whereas the most abundant archaeal phyla are Asgardarchaeota, Thermoplasmatota, and Thermoproteota. These results provide a valuable dataset for further research on deep-sea microbial ecology.
