16S rRNA sequencing of gut miarobiota in male mice after berberine treatmented

Berberine (BBR), one of the main components of Coptis chinensis, has been used to treat diarrhea, tumor and other diseases in clinic. However, the effects of BBR on male reproduction have been unclear. Here, we aimed to investigate the impact of BBR on male reproduction system, explore the underlying molecular mechanisms, and provide some advice during the process of preparing to breed offspring for men. Through the analysis of the gut microbiota in mice feces, it was found that the decline of muribaculaceae leads to a down-regulation in the synthesis of ornithine, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of Leydig cells. This study illustrated that BBR could lead to the occurrence of oligozoospermi, which provides guidance for clinical medication.
