Final Project Archive of the INBIODYN Trial (2006–2023): A Long-Term Comparison of Organic, Biodynamic, and Integrated Vineyard Management

This dataset and accompanying documentation represent the complete public archive of the INBIODYN trial, a long-term field experiment conducted from 2006 to 2023 in Geisenheim, Germany. The trial compared organic, biodynamic, and integrated vineyard management systems (Vitis vinifera cv. Riesling), using a randomized complete block design with four replicates per treatment on a 0.8 ha vineyard. The archive includes: Raw data on vine growth, yield, fruit quality and nutrient status Full experimental design and management history, including cover cropping, fertilization, plant protection, compost use, and biodynamic preparations A complete list of contributors, acknowledgements, and related publications The trial was designed to evaluate the long-term agronomic performance and ecological impact of agroecological systems under real-world viticultural conditions, with a particular focus on climate resilience, sustainability, and perennial crop management. With the conclusion of the INBIODYN trial, this archive marks the official finalization of the project. While this initial data release focuses primarily on plant-related parameters (e.g. yield, must quality, leaf nutrients), additional datasets will be made publicly available step by step. These will include soil physical and chemical data, amplicon sequencing results, and biodiversity monitoring data. All data and documentation are openly available to support further research, education, and decision-making in agroecology, viticulture, and sustainable production systems.
