Star Wars Thematic Corpus (SWTC) is a dataset developed by researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Tufts University. It specifically collects 64 thematic music pieces composed by John Williams for the Star Wars saga films, covering all three trilogies spanning the prequel, original, and sequel eras of the franchise. Each theme features unique melodic and harmonic characteristics. The dataset not only includes the melodic lines of the music, but also documents detailed harmonic information such as chord symbols and functional harmony. SWTC was created to conduct in-depth research on film music, particularly John Williams' compositional style, through digital encoding and analytical technologies, and to serve as a benchmark for comparative studies of other film music and classical music.
