The populated areas of the Vanuatu are created from built-up areas (HOTOSM, 2022) where the population of the smallest census unit (VNSO, 2021) is effectively concentrated. The methodology follows the one proposed in Thomas et al. (2021, 2023). The shaepfile data is described as: ADM2_EN - name of island of the populated area (2nd administrative level) ADM2_PCODE - code of island ADM1_EN - name of province of the populated area (1st administrative level) ADM1_PCODE - code of province population - population count in the populated area area - area of the populated area
