Der Hospizgedanke – ein Weg zur Verwirklichung von Hominität und Humanität ... nicht nur am Lebensende

Der Text – ein Festvortag zum Jubiläum der Steirischen Hospizbewegung zu deren Anfängen der Autor beitragen konnte, thematisiert die Hospiz-Idee als Gegenstand einer Entwicklungspsychologie und der Entwicklungsaufgaben „in der der Lebensspanne“. Man darf nicht erst am Ende ans Ende denken, um seiner eigenen „Hominität“, seines Menschenwesens willen. Man muss dafür „proaktiv“ handeln, aber nicht nur für sich oder für den kulturellen Nahraum. Menschenwürdiges Sterben ist ein Menschenrecht. Unsre Humanität erweist sich daran, ob wird uns für dieses Recht einsetzen – weltweit. This text, a lecture on the occasion of the anniversary of the Steiermark Hospice Association were the author was of some help at its beginnings, reflects the Hospice Idea in the framework of a life span developmental perspective and as a life long developmental task. One should not think about life’s end at the end – for the sake of one’s own “hominity”, one’s own human nature. Proactive initiative is needed, not only for oneself and for the cultural neighbourhood. Dying in dignity is a human right.
