This database houses data including security checklist references, security-related software defects, product names, and impact metrics, and supports the automation of vulnerability management, security measurement, and compliance. NVD was established in 2007 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and is sponsored and supported by the National Cybersecurity Division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and US-CERT.
