We selected several environments with distinct degree of complexity to carry out a comparison of three 16S rRNA gene amplicon-dependent strategies (Illumina MiSeq, Roche 454 and PacBio SMRT) together with the direct sequenced metagenome extracted 16S rRNA gene reads. With this purpose we sequenced samples of solar salterns in Mallorca, one saline lake in Iran, hypersaline sediments from Mallorca and Chile and gastric cavity of jellyfishes.
