Sequencing of HSV-1 KOS strain passaged combination therapy with pritelivir

In this study, we aimed to determine the effects of combination therapy on drug-resistance emergence in herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1). The wild-type HSV-1 KOS strain was grown under increasing doses of a single antiviral (acyclovir, foscarnet, pritelivir) or combinations thereof (acyclovir/pritelivir and foscarnet/pritelivir). The viral thymidine kinase, DNA polymerase, helicase, and primase were genetically characterized by amplicon-based next-generation sequencing on the Illumina Miseq platform.
