Dataset for "Development of a model of tick-borne encephalitis virus transmission from experimentally infected bank voles to Ixodes ricinus ticks"

Bank voles were inoculated with tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV). Two separate trials were conducted (pilot trial and main trial). In the pilot trial, bank voles were infected with the TBEV strain Battaune 17-H9 and in the main trial, one group of bank voles was infected with the TBEV strain Battaune 17-H9 and one group was infected with the TBEV strain HB 171/11. In both trials, uninfected bank voles served as negative controls. The health of the animals was evaluated daily based on a clinical score system, that included the body weight, the behavior and the appearance of neurological symptoms. Up to three points were granted for each criterion. The body weight of the bank voles was measured and the weight at the day of infection (0dpi) was set as 100%. The dataset contains information about the daily body weight relative to 0dpi (%) and the clinical score of each bank vole over the course of the infection.
