The Register of Insolvencies lists in summary form details of all cases of insolvency dealt with by the Court. Details included of the insolvent's name, address and occupation, the total amount of assets and liabilities and the name(s) of assignee and trustee.Proceedings of the Court were set out by the statutes governing insolvency in Victoria. These were firstly, the New South Wales Insolvency Acts of 1841 and 1844 and secondly, with the establishment of the Court of Insolvency, in the Insolvency Act 1870 and statutes enacted in Victoria. These were superseded in 1928 with Commonwealth laws enacted and applicable in all states.
