Gordona terrae Strain C-6 is a benzothiophene-desulfurizing bacterium which can exclusively desulfurize BT but not DBT to yield o-hydroxystyrene as the final product. To date, two major DBT biodesulfurization pathways have been reported respectively, and the functions of genes encoding for them have been fully described as well (Kodama et al., 1973; Denome et al., 1994). In contrast, the genetic basis of BT metabolism still remains unclear except that only two types of BT biodesulfurization pathway were proposed (Gilbert et al., 1998; Tanaka et al., 2001). To better understand the genetic information of BT biodeshufurization pathway, we herein report the draft genome sequence of G. terrae Strain C-6.
