Lactiplantibacillus plantarum P-8 ameliorated muscle development and intestinal inflammation by modulating gut microbial structure and function of Yellow River carp (Cyprinus carpio)

In this study, the potential application of L. plantarum P-8 in aquaculture was evaluated through in vitro experiments. A pseudo-sterile animal model was established using antibiotic treatment, followed by in vivo 12-week rearing experiments investigating L. plantarum P-8 effects on the growth performance, intestinal structure and metabolic function regulation of Yellow River carp. Additionally, the study further verified the protective and preventive effects of L. plantarum P-8 on intestinal inflammation using an enteritis model. This study aims to provide theoretical support for the use of L. plantarum P-8 in the healthy breeding of Yellow River carp, ultimately promoting environmentally-friendly, healthy and long-lasting growth in the Yellow River carp industry.
