Rhizosphere bacteria increase water stress tolerance in greenhouse ornamentals

Bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of greenhouse ornamental plants were selected in vitro for their ability to withstand PEG-induced osmotic stress or synthesize the enzyme ACC deaminase. Selected bacterial isolates were then evaluated in a series of greenhouse experiments for their ability to increase plant water stress tolerance. The bacteria included in this submission were able to increase the quality and/or health of greenhouse ornamentals after recovery from water stress.
