Here we present a transcriptome analysis of programmed chromosome elimination in plants. In goatgrass Aegilops speltoides nondisjunction of B chromosome chromatids results in the formation of micronuclei. Degradation of micronucleated DNA is the final step of B chromosome elimination in roots.
