The majority of files in this series are jacketed, arranged and numbered chronologically in relation to Cabinet meetings. Except where files are annotated with Cabinet’s decision, departmental advice or notes for the Minister, the series would form part of the official set of Cabinet minutes and supporting documentation, Cabinet meeting papers, which is recommended for retention as State archives under DR 5206.Pamela Diane Allan occupied the position of Minister for the Environment during the first term of the Carr Government. These records consist of Ms Allan’s copies of Cabinet minutes, attachment/appendices to Cabinet minutes; ministerial advices in relation to Cabinet proposals, agendas and decisions; as well as material relating to proceedings of Cabinet Committees. Part of the role of the Cabinet Office is to prepare and distribute Cabinet papers to Government Ministers and those papers are transferred to the Cabinet Office on a Minister’s retirement.
