In-situ versus ex-situ x-ray diffraction (XRD) study of the early hydration of Portland cements containing calcium carbonate

In Gonçalves et al. we compare the phase evolution during the hydration of two commercial Portland cements using x-ray diffraction (XRD). The cementitious pastes were characterized with different hydration ages (from 1 hour to 28 days) and the results of the in-situ technique were compared with the conventional ex-situ method. Complementary standardized thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) was performed, and the results related to the evolution of phases.
