Whole genome sequence of Polyphagotarsonemus latus, collected on Morus indica (Mulberry) at GKVK, Bangalore. Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks), commonly known as chilli mite, is a cosmopolitan agricultural pest with a very wide host range and with a high record of pesticide resistance. A notable traditional serious pest of chillies & potato and more recently a newer severe pest of mulberry in South India. Many aspects of its biology with very rapid development (2 to 4 days) and relatively high fecundity facilitate rapid evolution of its resistance to pesticides. Hence satisfactory control of this pest is becoming increasinglydifficult and genetic basis of its pesticide resistance is either not well studied or understood.
