This study examines water management practices aimed at reducing water consumption in rice paddies while maintaining crop yields. Specifically, mid-season drainage and intermittent irrigation were implemented, followed by microbial community and soil analyses at key stages of water management to assess their potential for mitigating GHGs emissions, enhancing crop productivity, and optimizing irrigation efficiency for environmentally sustainable agricultural systems. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to data-driven policy decisions for mitigating agricultural CH4 and N2O emissions and to provide guidelines for the application of water management techniques in other rice-growing regions.
