资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school is also recorded; this last column might also be used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred. Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission. The series from Fingal Point Public School is currently represented by two registers, apparently the second and third in the series. The earlier volume was apparently commenced in late 1928 or early 1929, but incorporates retrospective entries for all pupils currently enrolled at that time, the earliest of whom was first admitted in 1920 (it should be noticed that the ages given for these pupils do not appear to be their ages at admission, but rather their ages at the time when this volume of the register was commenced). Boys’ entries in this volume are numbered 1-106, girls’ entries 1-92. From 1955 onwards the custom is followed of starting new sequences of numbers with each new school year, and from 1957 it is also usual to start each year’s entries on a new double-page opening. Forty entries towards the end of this volume, of pupils still enrolled at the end of 1963, are marked “See New Register.”Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
