Music communicates affects, not basic emotions – A constructionist account of attribution of emotional meanings to music

These are the data release notes relating to manuscript titled 'Music communicates affects, not basic emotions – A constructionist account of attribution of emotional meanings to music' by Julian Cespedes Guevara and Tuomas Eerola. The starting point is a collection of studies which have explored which cues in music and speech relate consistently to particular emotion. We have coded the cue-emotion combinations from these existing studies and carried out a simple correspondence analysis (CA) that attempts to represent the cue - affect contingency matrix in an optimal fashion.
