This study detected elevated L1 transcription and retrotransposition in parvalbumin (PV) interneurons. To explain this phenomenon, we performed Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) nanopore sequencing on 10 separately barcoded pools of hippocampal PV neurons obtained from neonate (P0) mice, as well as the matched PV- cells. Each set of 10 pools was sequenced on an ONT PromethION platform. As a follow up experiment, additional pools from PV+, PV-, PV-/Tub+ and PV-/Tub- populations were sequenced.
