Investment in food tech startups in Europe 2015-2020

Total investment in European food tech companies was estimated to value 2.4 billion euros in 2020. Over the period from 2013 to 2020, capital invested in next generation food tech startups increased, reaching 2.1 billion euros in 2019 and 2.4 billion euros in 2020. The value of investment in first wave food tech companies, on the other hand was much lower. First wave start ups include more established market players such as Deliveroo, Delivery Hero and Takeaway.com, while the next generation companies are at an earlier stage of growth.
