Data from: Variation in successional niche turnover of multiple taxa in a recovering tropical rainforest

This project contains data on species abundance across different plots in a chronosequence of the Chocó rainforest in northwest Ecuador. It includes information from eighteen ecological communities: soil bacteria (at 10 cm and 50 cm depths), seedlings, trees, litter arthropods, ants, termites, saproxylic beetles, dung beetles, litter frogs, ground seed dispersers (mammals and birds), ground mammals, frugivorous birds, non-frugivorous birds (all recorded birds except frugivores), moths, bees, nocturnal insects, and bats.Additionally, the dataset includes results on species' successional niches derived from a null model approach and the code use for the estimations. The project provides code for species richness and abundance within successional niches for the eighteen communities together, along with detailed information on the plots. Finally, we offer comparative data for birds and mammals, alongside information from literature.Data consists of the columns Plot_ID: the unique plot number of the Reassembly Project. Species: name of the species. Group corresponding to the ecological community referenced in the main text. Abundance: number of individuals observed. Total Abundance = relative abundance, T_abundance: total number of individuals observed in all plots. Author: the person who collected the data. Sampling year: year data was collected. Gradient: rank of the successional age. Regeneration year: when the plot was abandoned.
