New installations of floating offshore wind globally 2021-2033

In 2023, a total of 48 megawatts of floating offshore wind capacity were installed worldwide. New floating wind installations are expected to reach 8.3 gigawatts in 2033.Floating wind technologies offer new possibilities for the development of offshore wind power, allowing the construction of wind farms in deep water locations where bottom-fixed technologies are not attractive economically.
